Masterclass and conference - Living with rising water

In the wake of a rising global interest for resilient cities and water management issues related to human habitat, and building on “Jean Prouvé, the better days” exhibition, Atelier LUMA initiates a masterclass on floodproof demountable architecture and self construction.

The masterclass will investigate this global concern on a local level in a 6-day Masterclass directed by architects Kunlé Adeyemi and Berend Strijland with designer Paolo Cascone. Under their supervision, 40 international students from different schools around the Mediterranean will work at Parc des Ateliers, Arles and on-site in the region on design solutions to inhabit flood-prone areas and adaptability to flood risks.

The Masterclass outcomes will be presented in an exhibition during LUMA Days 2018 focused on Hospitality. Those outcomes will be assessed by the best international water and territory specialists and architects of innovative constructions together with local experts in the kick-off public conference of LUMA Days.

Following the masterclass exploration Atelier Luma is bringing international water specialists and architects of innovative constructions together with local experts in a public conference during Luma days.

Camargue delta is deeply concerned with water issues. Too much water and not enough! Before we all run to the Alpilles let’s imagine potential design solutions.
